Change of Details
Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to Week 5!
I hope you had a wonderful long weekend and were able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine!
Thank you again for your understanding and patience last Friday as we faced a power outage at St Brigid’s. Due to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines, we are unable to have staff and students onsite in the case of a power outage. We have recently engaged with a program that allows us to send text messages to our community in emergency situations. From all accounts this proved to be an effective way to communicate the power outage with families on Friday.
It was wonderful to welcome our children back to onsite schooling last week! With the changing of restrictions, we are now able to make some preliminary plans for end of year activities. We are currently in the process of making arrangements for Year 6 Graduation and will be in a position to communicate the date and possible plans with you early next week.
It is also important to note that the month of November is a time of remembrance as we reflect upon the following days;
- 1st November: All Saints Day
- 2nd November: All Souls Day
- 11th November: Remembrance Day
Have a wonderful week everyone, I look forward to seeing you soon.
Take care and God Bless,
Jayne Bosworth

Excerpt from St Brigid's Prayer
As we will have quite a lot of information to share with you within the coming weeks, we will circulate a newsletter each week for the remainder of term to ensure that you are up to date with the latest information.
Early in Term 3, we were fortunate enough to run our St Brigid’s Sleep Out, where 39 students from years 3 - 6 stepped out of their comfort zones and experienced a glimpse into the realities of homelessness.
After finally being able to collect all of our donations after various lockdowns, we are very proud to announce the total number of donated items and money raised this year.
Drum roll please…
$850.30 and 304 non-perishable food items/soft goods.
All donations have been donated to our local St Vincent de Paul to be distributed to those in need.
A very big thank you and congratulations to our St Brigid’s and wider Ballan community for their overwhelming generosity again this year. A special shout out to these businesses for supporting our fundraiser:
- Coles Ballarat (Victoria Street)
- Rachel Sanders and Driscolls
- Ballan Local Butcher
- Ballan Newsagency
- The Tin Plate
- Great Western Hotel - Ballan
- Sweet n Sassy
- The Skin Inn
With the changing of restrictions, we have booked in the following dates for our sacramental program:
- Friday 12th November - 6.00pm at St Patrick's, Gordon
- Saturday 13th November- 12.00pm at St Patrick's, Gordon
- Friday 19th November - 6.00pm at St Brigid's, Ballan
- Sunday 21st November - 12.00pm at St Brigid's, Ballan
Please keep the following children in your prayers as they continue their sacramental journey:
Kristian Seketa, Joel Card, Eamon Grigg, Ruby Sims, Tahni Muscat, Ava Conroy, Nicholas Primerano, Angus Eskdale, Aoife Lakey, Jake Plageman, Madison Buttigieg, Henry Freemantle, Bryson McMillan, Mate Marinovic, Jaimi Reid, Clara Monterosso, Terrence Ozimek
The Landscaping project is really taking shape with the installation of balustrades, rendering of stairs, planting, mulching, netting and other works.
Within the next couple of weeks, the new sports turf surface will be installed and the area will include a basketball and netball court with reversible backboard/nets with padded towers. Included also will be four square games and a running track!
Teachers are presently undertaking the work of creating class lists for next year and many hours are spent on this task. Please be assured that teachers use their professional knowledge of students and their judgement of what is best for each individual child when considering groupings. In assigning students to classes, teachers are asked to consider the following criteria to ensure an even spread of:
- Learning abilities
- Boys and girls even grade levels
- Learning friends - these are not necessarily social friends but students they enjoy and work well with. Students are asked for their input in this area.
- Friendship groups - again students are asked for their input
We hope to be in a position to share the 2022 class structure in next week's newsletter.
A reminder to please direct all school related communication and enquires through to the office throughout the day. Now that face to face learning is recommencing, Teachers are unable to read and/or respond to messages throughout the day. Seesaw is only to be used for student work related messages. All student absences, health concerns and after school care messages are to be directed via the school office.
Issue 8 of Book Club is out now. If you wish to order please do so online via loop, no cash orders are being accepted through the office at the moment. Thank you!
