Change of Details
Luke 1:46-49, also known as the Magnificat, is a beautiful song of praise that Mary sang to God after she received the news that she would give birth to Jesus. In this passage, Mary expresses her joy and gratitude for God's mercy and faithfulness, and acknowledges the great things that God has done for her.
As we approach Mother's Day, Mary's words in the Magnificat take on a special significance. Mary was chosen by God to be the mother of the Messiah, and her faith and trust in God's plan serve as an inspiration to mothers everywhere. Like Mary, mothers are often called upon to make sacrifices and to face difficult challenges, but their love and devotion to their children reflects the selfless love of God.
This week we look forward to acknowledging and celebrating the amazing women and special people who gently shape and guide us. Wishing our mothers and special people in our lives a very happy Mother’s Day on Sunday.
St Brigid's Primary School Ballan wishes to acknowledge respectfully the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work, learn, play and gather.
On Thursday 8th May, our P&F will be facilitating a Mother’s Day Stall. On this day, children are invited to bring $5 to school to purchase a gift for their mothers, grandmothers or special people in their lives.
A big thank you to Jo Muldeary and Hayley Plageman for organising and facilitating our Mother’s Day Stall.

This term, we are delighted to invite mothers, grandmothers and the special women in our lives to join us for our Mother’s Day Breakfast and Liturgy on Friday, 9th May.
Our celebration will begin with breakfast at 8:30am in the Gathering Space for mothers, grandmothers and special friends. This will be followed by a Liturgy with the children at 9:00am at St Brigid’s Church.
Please note that, due to limited space, children will not be attending the breakfast and should be dropped off at school from 8:30am as usual.
Recently we have had cases of head lice reported in our school community. While head lice are not harmful, they can spread easily, so we encourage all families to take a few proactive steps.
Please check your child’s hair regularly for any signs of head lice or nits (eggs). If you find any, we recommend beginning treatment promptly and notifying the school to ensure that we can monitor the situation. For guidance on treatment and prevention, please consult your pharmacist or healthcare provider.
We have now made the transition to winter uniform. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct winter uniform daily.
Children are required to continue to wear the correct sports uniform each Tuesday and Wednesday. Given the nature of Physical Education lessons, on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s children can wear either correct sports shorts/skorts or track pants.
If you have any winter tunics or navy trousers you would like to sell, particularly in smaller sizes, please contact the school office.
The St Brigid’s winter uniform consists of the following:

Volunteers
We have re-introduce a roster looking for volunteers to help prepare and serve lunches on each Friday. Ideally 2 helpers are required.
If you are available to help out on a Friday between 11.30am-1.00pm please contact the school office with your dates (valid Working with Children Check is required).
The children really enjoy hot lunches and this can only happen with the help of volunteers!
