Principal Message
Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
As we enter Week 3, it is wonderful to see our students continuing to build meaningful connections with each other, both in the classroom and beyond. Our new and returning students have settled into school life beautifully, creating a warm and supportive learning environment.
This year, we continue our partnership with the Catholic Education Flare Primary Literacy Team as we implement and embed the Structured Literacy (FLARE) Pedagogical Framework and commitments from Foundation - Year 6.
With all classes now fully engaged in learning, each day all students receive explicit instruction in essential literacy skills, including:
- Oral Language
- Phonological Awareness (embedded in our Phonics and Reading sessions)
- Systematic Synthetic Phonics (Foundation to Year Three)
- Fluency
- Language and Reading Comprehension
- Vocabulary
- Spelling (Spelling Mastery Year Four to Year Six)
- Grammar & Syntax
- Writing
- Handwriting
By focusing on these key areas, we are equipping our students with strong foundational literacy skills that will support their learning across all subjects.
This year as a staff we continue to build our knowledge in the Structured Literacy framework and look forward to our Professional Learning day in Week 7 focusing on Structured Literacy facilitated by the Catholic Education Flare Primary Literacy Team.
Please see the link below for further information regarding our ‘Literacy Approach' and partnership with the Catholic Education team.
We appreciate your ongoing partnership and look forward to another fantastic year of growth and achievement.
Take care and God bless,
Jayne Bosworth
